Conference 2011 – Zagreb

This year's meeting of the Alpbach Clubs and Initiative Groups was organized in Zagreb, Capital of Croatia. The conference was held from April 15 – 17, under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Dr. Ivo Josipovic. The conference was organized by the Club Alpbach Croatia, which is a member of the European Forum Alpbach Network. Representatives of the Club Alpbach Belgrade – Milana Sredojevic, Sanja Milosavljevic and Marija Petronijevic, participated in this regional meeting.

Representatives of 10 EFA Clubs and IGs engaged in dialogue and discussions on the European Union and relations in Southeastern Europe.

Panel discussion at the European House on "Southeast European Journey"

  • Dr. Erhard Busek, President of the European Forum Alpbach,
  • Dr. Carolin Hornstein-Tomic, a researcher at the Institute Ivo Pilar,
  • Dr. Dejan Jovic, a professor of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Zagreb,
  • Nenad Sebek, Executive Director of the Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in SEE,
  • Mag. Sc Andrej Plenkovic, Secretary for European Integration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.

Saturday, 16 April 2011.
After the presentation of the Club Alpbach Croatia, participants had lecture by Dr. Caroline Hornstein Tomi? on topic "Cultural Pluralism in the EU" where the participants approached the similarities and differences in mentality and culture of the EU along with reviews of available research results that clearly indicate the profile of Europeans and stand on certain issues.

Dr. Dejan Jovic held a lecture entitled "Croatia's Foreign Policy" followed by a cocktail party for participants.

Sunday 17th April 2011.
During the third day of their stay in Zagreb, the conference participants had the opportunity for sightseeing the Zagreb and become familiar with its most important cultural and historical monuments.

During the morning session, the lecture held by Dr. Sc. Goran Vlaši? was dedicated to the Advanced Management Programmes which are being implemented in Croatia.

In the afternoon, a regional meeting ended and was followed by the departure of the participants.
